- A set of two leather dog tags in green and terracotta tied together with white string.
- Public Description
- A set of prisoner-of-war leather dog tags belonging to John G. Housser. These were given to him when he became a prisoner of Offlag 7B in Germany. Between 1936 and 1937, Housser served as Second Lieutenant of the Royal Grenadiers, and, in 1938, he joined the Royal Regiment of Canada. He volunteered for active military service in 1939, serving in Iceland's "Z" Force (1940), in England (1941-1942), and at the battle of Dieppe in France (1942). In 1942, Housser was taken as a Prisoner-of War and detained in Eichstätt, Germany in Offlag 7B until the end of the Second World War in 1945.
