- A photograph of Flight Lieutenant Langley Smith '12 in military dress. Langley attended St. Andrew's from 1910 to 1912. He joined World War I with Royal Naval Aviation Service, scoring eight victories in his "Sopwith Pup" plane. His squadron were the first to recieve the newly created "Sopwith Camel" planes in 1917. Smith was killed in action on June 12, 1917 while attempting to intercept a flight of sixteen bombers. He was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross.
