- A photograph of Lt. Clarence Rogers '09 in military dress. Clarence attended St. Andrew's from 1902 to 1909. Clarence enlisted with the Royal Flying Corps, and was generally believed to have shot down German aviator Immelmann. During this battle Clarence was shot down and mortally wounded in the crash. German troops tried to save his life, but he unfortunately died on June 18th, 1916. What may be surprising was that he was comforted by the German soldiers who captured him as he lay dying, and after his death he was buried with full military honours and his family was later notified by captured German officer Otto Urith.
