- A photograph of Captain Fred Macdonald in full Highlander dress during World War I. Fred attended St. Andrew's from 1900 to 1908. Shortly after World War I began he joined the 48th Highlanders and later the 15th Canadian Battalion. He became a prisoner of war in 1915 and was held in Bischofswerda, Germany until 1918, upon which he was released into Holland to make his way back home to Canada. He was related to the first founder of St. Andrew's College, Dr. George Bruce, and son of reknown Colonel William C. Macdonald.
