- Public Description
- A jacket first created for the 2003 Battlefields Tour gifted to Jim Herder '64, who at the time was Director of Development at St. Andrew's. The Battlefields Tour of the 2003-04 year had a group of St. Andrew's students and staff travel to France and Belgium to learn about the First and Second World War. While Jim did not attend the school Battlefields Tour, he did wear the jacket on a personal trip with a group of Newfoundlanders (including some Old Boys) to the Somme for the 90th Anniversary of the battle of Beaumont Hamel in 2006. Jim had three uncles participate in the battle, with one named Lt. Hubert C. Herder being killed in action.
