Description

A series of two medals and one award. The first medal is the Commemorative Medal of the WWII Dieppe Raid. The second medal is the War Commemorative Medal of 1870-1871 for the Franco Prussian War. The large award is an Order of Saint John cross.

Public Description

A series of two military medals and one award belonging to John G. Housser. Between 1936 and 1937, Housser served as Second Lieutenant of the Royal Grenadiers, and, in 1938, he joined the Royal Regiment of Canada. He volunteered for active military service in 1939, serving in Iceland's "Z" Force (1940), in England (1941-1942), and at the battle of Dieppe in France (1942). In 1942, Housser was taken as a Prisoner-of War and detained in Eichstätt, Germany in Offlag 7B until the end of the Second World War in 1945.
