- Public Description
- A memoir and history written by Old Boy Stephen Newroth. It tells the story of Daybreak, a L'Arche centre in Richmond Hill for community living that bettered the living and social conditions of those with intellectual handicaps in 1969, and the subsequent changes to legislation that bettered the lives of those with intellectual disabilities. Newroth has since retired, but Daybreak has grown to be North America's largest and oldest L'Arche community. Daybreak provides both housing and day programs for those with intellectual disabilities.
